CHAIR ELECTRIC POWER NETWORKS

AND RENEWABLE ENERGY

At 21th and 22th September researchers of renewable energy, smart grid and electrical power networks came together at the NEIS-conference in Hamburg. In addition to the german researchers, many international experts and students shared their research activities at the Helmut-Schmidt-University of Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. The conference was organized by the Chair of Electrical Power Systems. Beneath very interesting presentations and talks, a field trip to the substation Jenfeld and an Energy-slam in evening completed the schedule.

From the 5th to 8th of September there was the 9th Opal-RT conference in the beautiful city Montrel. Under the title “a new era of real time simulation” experts from all from over the world and from different sections of the energy systems came together at the RT17. Different topics regarding real time simulation were discussed and there was a brisk information exchange with different companies like Nationl Instruments, ABB, Hydro Quebec, Etap and of course Opal-RT.

From the 24th to the 28th of July, the Chair of Electrical Networks and Renewable Energy (LENA) attended a training course at PSI (Products and Systems of Information Technology). The chair was represented by five scientific staff members as well as three students. PSI is a company that has been concerned with the development of software systems for more than 45 years.

From the 16th to the 20th of July there was the General Meeting form IEEE PES in Chicago, where experts from the field of Power Electronics met. The LENA was at this conference with the head of the chair and two scientific assistants.

PowerTech is the IEEE PES anchor conference in Europe and has been attended by hundreds of delegates from around the world. This year the conference was held during 18-22 June at the University of Manchester, England.The Chair Electric Power Networks and Renewable Energy Sources (LENA) was represented by Ms. Iryna Chychykina with the presentation “Comparison Of Different Redispatch Optimization Strategies“.
