    LENA at the IEEE PES GM 2024 in Seattle

    The IEEE PES General Meeting is one of the flagship conferences of electrical power engineering and brings together thousands of electrical engineers and scientists from all over the world every year. The conference is thus an international forum for the promotion, exchange and discussion of various topics and developments in the field of electrical power engineering. This year's General Meeting took place from 22 to 25 July in Seattle, Washington.

    On Friday, 14.06.2024, M.Sc. Sebastian Helm defended his dissertation entitled  "Optimiertes Lademanagement von E-Kfz zur Spannungsstabilisierung im Niederspannungsnetz".

    Excursion to Avacon and its substation

    On June 3, 2024, students and employees of Otto von Guericke University visited Avacon Netz GmbH in Salzgitter. They were given exciting insights into the day-to-day work of the grid control center and listened to specialist presentations on “Planning and construction of special grids” and “Secondary technology”. The group also visited the Helmstedt substation. They were shown the operations building, the outdoor facilities and a switching process demonstration from the grid control center.

    LENA at the T&D conference in the USA

    The IEEE Power & Energy Society Transmission & Distribution Conference & Exhibition is an important event for experts in the field of power transmission and distribution. It provides a platform for networking, breakthrough products and services, and technical education. The IEEE PES T&D Conference 2024 in Anaheim addresses challenges such as climate change, cyber threats and grid reliability. LENA representatives Professor Martin Wolter and Eric Glende used the conference to make research contacts and present their work in the PROGRESS project.

    Research trip to Santa Maria and Porto Alegre - Brazil

    From April 15 to 18, 2024, LENA employees visited the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) and on April 19 the Unisonos University in Porto Alegre. The visit took place as part of the DAAD/CAPES-funded research project PROBRAL.

    The program included kick-off meetings on transatlantic co-simulations, lectures and laboratory visits.  The visit was rated as very successful, with intensive scientific exchange and the intensification of global cooperation.
