Renewable Energy Industry Day Saxony-Anhalt
On March 3, 2026, the Renewable Energy Industry Day Saxony-Anhalt took place at the Maritim Hotel Magdeburg. The event brought together representatives from politics, industry, public administration, and the energy sector to discuss key challenges and perspectives of the energy transition in the context of the upcoming state elections. Particular attention was given to topics such as grid infrastructure, social acceptance of renewable energy projects, the heat transition, and the practical implementation of renewable energy systems.

As part of the expert forums, the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg contributed to the program with a presentation in Forum III: “The German Power System: Facts, Functionality, and Common Myths.” The presentation provided an overview of the fundamental principles of the German electricity system. Key interactions between electricity generation, grid operation, and security of supply were outlined, while common misconceptions frequently encountered in public debates were critically examined. The contribution aimed to clarify technical and systemic fundamentals and to support a fact-based discussion on the energy transition.
Overall, the industry day provided an important platform for exchange between academia, industry, and policymakers, highlighting the role of scientific expertise in shaping the future of the energy transition in Central Germany.
