LENA at the ELECON Workshop, Florianapolis, Brazil

From Monday to Friday 12th to 14th September the fourth and last ELECON (Electricity Consumption Analysis to Promote Energy Efficiency Considering Demand Response and Non-Technical Losses) Workshop takes place in Florianopolis, Brazil. The main goal of this project is to establish a competent and fruitful scientific exchange between European and Brazilian universities regarding smart grid solutions. The Otto-von-Guericke University was represented by Iryna Chychykina, Przemyslaw Trojan, André Richter, Stephan Balischewski and Christian Klabunde. The purpose of this final meeting was to present the most important results of the ELECON project as well as the main research topics of the different universities.

First of all, Iryna Chychykina gave a presentation about the topic “Redispatch with Power Flow Decomposition and Power Transfer Distribution Factors Methods”, where she presents her current research results. In this presentation different methods to calculate power plant sensitivities, which are a requirement for redispatch actions, are compared with each other.

The topic of Przemyslaw Trojan’s presentation was „Agent-based power system management – concepts of voltage control”. In his presentation he introduced new smart grid control strategies which will allow a grid supporting operation of decentral renewable energy sources especially in lower voltage levels (low- and medium voltage).

Finally, in his presentation “The German Electricity Market“, André Richter gave an overview on the challenges in the German energy supply system and the currently existing market structure. Moreover, he presents the chair of Electric Power Networks and Renewable Energy.
